Returns & Refunds

We want you to love every book and print that arrives from Beth Ball Books. Each order is checked by hand before it ships, but on the rare occasion that something slips through, we'll take care of it. Here's how it all works:

Print books & art prints: 30-day returns

You have 30 days after receiving your item to request a return on print books and art prints. To be eligible, your item must be in the same condition you received it—unread or unused, and free of notes, markings, creases, or damage.

To start a return, email us at beth@bethballbooks.com. If your return is approved, we'll send you instructions on how and where to send your package. Please don't send anything back before requesting a return—items sent to us without an approved request can't be accepted.

Return shipping: If you're returning an item because you've changed your mind, return shipping is your responsibility. If your item arrived damaged, defective, or wasn't what you ordered, that's on us. See If your item arrives damaged below, and we'll cover the cost.

Missing items marked delivered

Every order ships with tracking so you can follow it on its way to you. On the rare occasion the tracking shows your package as delivered but it hasn't turned up, contact us within 7 days and we'll help you track it down, including opening a claim with the carrier when that's the right step. Because a package is in the carrier's hands once it leaves us, we're not able to automatically refund or replace an order that tracking shows as delivered, but we'll do everything we can to help you get it sorted.

Ebooks & digital files

Because digital files can't be "returned" once they're in your hands, all sales of ebooks and digital products are final once the files have been delivered, with one important exception. If a download fails or you can't access your ebook for any reason, contact us and we'll make it right.

Our quality promise — and what counts as damage

Every book and print is inspected by hand before it leaves us, so you can order with confidence. That said, books and prints are physical objects that travel to reach you, and while we take every precaution to ensure your order arrives safely, a few minor cosmetic issues that do not impact the reading experience may occur. The following aren't considered defects that warrant a replacement:

  • Light shelf or edge wear
  • A small bump or soft corner
  • Minor scuffing on the cover
  • Minor page creases or bent corners
  • Slight variations in trim, color, or finish
  • Minor scratches or scuffs on foiling

We do consider an item damaged or defective if it arrives with:

  • Torn, missing, or misbound pages
  • A printing error
  • A cover or binding coming apart
  • Water or moisture damage
  • Significant crushing or denting
  • Creases, bends, or tears (for art prints)

The other exception for product damages is for discounted damaged or "bruised" products which have been knowingly purchased with defects disclosed. These items cannot be returned or replaced for damages.

If your item has any of these—or if you received the wrong item—that's on us, and here's what happens next:

If your item arrives damaged

Please email us within 7 days of delivery with a photo of the issue. We'll review it and reply with your next steps.

Depending on the item and problem, we may send a replacement or offer a partial or full refund without requesting the item be sent back. We handle these issues on a case by case basis to make sure you're taken care of. When the damage is our fault or the courier's, we cover any costs—you won't pay return shipping.

Non-returnable items

A few things can't be returned:

  • "Bruised" books (as explained above) and gift cards
  • Personalized or special-order items (for example, signed copies, custom dedications, or made-to-order prints)

If you're not sure whether your item qualifies, just ask before you buy. We're happy to clarify.

European Union: 14-day cooling-off period

If your order is being shipped into the European Union, you have the right to cancel or return it within 14 days of receipt, for any reason and without justification. As above, the item must be in the same condition you received it—unused, undamaged, and in its original packaging. For a change-of-mind cancellation, return shipping is your responsibility; if the item arrived damaged, defective, or wrong, we cover it.

Refunds

Once we've received and inspected your return (if applicable), we'll let you know whether your refund has been approved. If it is, we'll refund your original payment method within 10 business days. Keep in mind that your bank or credit card company may need extra time to process and post the refund on their end.
